How it works
A tutor that learns how your child learns
Masomo meets your child where they are, notices what's tripping them up, and helps them through it.
1. Set up in a few minutes
Create a parent account, verify your email and phone, and read our short privacy notice. U.S. law (COPPA) asks us to get your permission before we collect anything about your child, so we do this first.
Add a profile for each child — a nickname is fine. Children never create accounts or log in; they pick their avatar on your device.
2. A gentle check-in
The first time a child starts a subject, they answer 10 to 14 questions. Difficulty steps up or down as they go, each answer is marked with a kind explanation, and "I'm not sure" is always okay. It finds a comfortable starting point, and you can see where they started under Progress.
Children can move ahead of their grade or step back to fill gaps. You can change a child's grade any time.
3. Practice that adapts
Every session mixes new skills, spaced review of skills they've mastered, and targeted practice on repeated mistakes. Questions aim for about 75% success — enough challenge to grow without frustration.
Every wrong answer choice is tagged with the misconception behind it, so when the same mistake keeps happening, practice shifts to fix it.
4. Hints from Zizi the owl
Hints come in three tiers: a nudge, a stronger hint, then a worked step. Zizi never just gives the answer, and remembers which hint styles work best for your child.
No red X, no buzzer. A wrong answer gets “Let's look again 👀”. Stars are earned for trying and are never taken away.
5. Progress you can see
Set a weekly goal for each child. Skill badges show what they've mastered, and a monthly tutor's note explains progress and what's coming next.
Leaving child mode needs your parent PIN, so settings and billing stay yours.
What happens each week

- We check the curriculum standards for any changes.
- Sunday
- New questions are created for every grade and checked for accuracy and reading level.
- Monday
- Weekly goals reset and a fresh week begins.
